Out Of Control

Tipped by Music Week as a talent to watch on both sides of the Atlantic, Bradford-born Anita Maj, comes armed with cracking blues pop tunes and a go-get-em attitude, which is getting her noticed in both the UK and USA.

Her first single ‘Out of Control’ is released on 21st March through Lil Minx Records and will be available via all good digital platforms.

This Singer/songwriter has a distinct edge to her music. Initially inspired by the likes of Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and fearless female front women like PJ Harvey, Chrissie Hynde and Debbie Harry her modern inspirations include Kings of Leon, The Killers, 30 Seconds to Mars and Muse.

Blessed with the Xtra Factor Maj has gone from busking to business in a short time. The pain of unrequited love inspires her first single ‘Out Of Control’. Its fresh powerpop is underlaid with the harder guitar roots that define her sound and is a taster of her forthcoming debut album.

Grass roots star spotting media like God Is In The TV, Propaganda, Playvybz, The Painters Radio Show, Touch FM, Xstream East and Resonance FM have already picked up on, and are supporting the single.

Not resting on her laurels, Anita has been recording tracks with Kanye West collaborator Malik Yusef, as well as working on her debut album – Truth Or Dare – with ‘Junk Scientist’, Russ Keffert (Clinic, The Rakes, Larrikin Love) and Dan Swift (Kasabian, Biffy Clyro, Snow Patrol).

She loves to perform live and has supported The Levellers, Billy Vincent, Little Fish, Claire Nicholson and Kate Tempest, appearing at City Showcase and various ‘Best New Bands’ stages at festivals.

The Masquerade EP was released in America in late 2010 and was added to artist breaking college and national radio, including tastemaker stations such as KTCV and KCRW at an exciting rate. Anita is seeing her name on play lists and charts alongside names such as Blood Red Shoes and Jimmy Eat World while getting cool gigs like Philadelphia Film and Music Festival, New Orleans’s House Of Blues, NYC’s Arlene’s Grocery and LA’s Viper Room. She will perform in Austin, Texas at Touché on 18th March at 8pm – during SXSW and has a residency at the Cat Club on Sunset Strip in LA from late March to mid-May.
